Venous Doppler Ultrasound
A pulse-Doppler morphologic evaluation is also performed to study blood flow through the major veins of both legs. This test is used to detect blocked or narrowed veins and identify blood clots (deep vein thrombosis, DVT). If left untreated, clots can break loose and travel to the lungs (pulmonary embolism) or the heart, creating life-threatening complications.
